Evaluation of Treatment and Oncological Follow-Up of Patients with Non-Metastatic Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer After Implementation of the Project “CABEM Mais Vidas” at ABC Medical School.

Resumo

Introduction: Bladder cancer is a prevalent neoplasm, with epidemiology highlighting the need for effective approaches. In Brazil, the incidence and mortality associated with this pathology have spurred initiatives like the "CABEM Mais Vidas" Project, aiming for integrated care management. Objectives: To assess the treatment efficacy and oncological follow-up of patients with non-metastatic muscle-invasive bladder cancer in the ABC metropolitan region, promoting the integration of medical teams to define the best therapeutic plan. Methodology: This retrospective study analyzed clinical and demographic data such as age, ECOG performance status, and comorbidities, among others, as well as evaluations of different treatment modalities, types of chemotherapy, and their impacts on final survival outcomes. Results: A median overall survival of 26 months was revealed for patients with non-metastatic invasive bladder cancer, with a 51.47% prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities. Urothelial carcinoma was the most common histological type, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy was applied in 54.41% of cases. The median progression-free survival was 24 months. Survival analyses underscored outcome heterogeneity, highlighting the importance of personalized interventions based on detailed clinical characteristics and treatment responses. Conclusion: The study confirms the significance of individualized management and underscores the utility of the "CABEM Mais Vidas" Project in providing a patient-centered therapeutic approach, positively impacting clinical outcomes.
